New DAD Lite reduces the devastating impact of Flood Damage

In a move that addresses some of the misery and cost of flood damage, TBBplc spin-out company Direct Air Dryers Ltd this week announced the commercial release of its new DAD Lite product range. This new technology can reduce flood drying times by over 50%. This means that families could get back to their homes in weeks rather than months.

As well as early re-occupation, drying faster brings energy saving benefits so the carbon footprint of this system is dramatically reduced over conventional methods and it reduces health risks by discouraging mould growth.

The UK insurance industry spends an estimated £1.5 billion per annum on flood restoration in an average year; and already insurers are indicating that the cost of the recent flood damage across the country is expected to top £2 billion.

Jack Elliott, Technical Director and Co-Founder of Direct Air Dryers Limited said: "Whilst the DAD Lite can't prevent flooding, it halves the time taken to dry the property effectively. So at times of peak demand and major flooding events twice as many buildings can be helped with the same amount of equipment." He went on to say: "Using this kit will help the insurance industry and the flood restoration industry to deal with the volume of current work, and get people back in their properties and UK businesses up and running a lot sooner".

With the increasing need for both businesses and individuals to reduce their carbon footprint DAD presents the flood industry a great opportunity to make people's lives more bearable after flooding occurs, whilst at the same time drastically cutting the emissions associated with current drying techniques.

Our President, Trevor Baylis OBE said: "Our heart goes out to these people whose homes and businesses have been devastated by the recent floods but I'm delighted that this new British Invention will be able to help. It's a problem that unfortunately looks like it will affect more and more people more often as the 21st Century unfolds."
