Many of the ideas that are submitted to TBBplc involve the inventor's profession. This was the case with the clever 'Edge Trimmer' device which is the brainchild of inventor and professional carpenter, Bill Hubbard. He was fed up with cutting his fingers when faced with the difficult task of trimming worktop edges, so made a simple prototype which proved to be a great success but hit a dead-end in finding a company to mass-produce his invention.
To use, just run the cutting wheel along the edge to trim off excess material. The Edge Trimmer is supplied with spare wheel and displayed in an attractive merchandiser.

Bill visited our website, downloaded and read our Inventor Pack and then submitted his idea to see if we could help. Our Patent Attorney conducted a comprehensive patent search to establish that the idea was new and could gain patent protection. Meanwhile, our commercial team looked at the idea to consider market need and commercial quality.
Working on Bill's behalf, we secured a licence agreement with a leading British tool manufacturing company. After a period of detailed design, testing and development the Spectra 3210 'Edge Trimmer' went on sale in 2006.
This is an ingenious tool that saves time and effort! - a trimmer for use with iron-on or adhesive edging. The lightweight and easy to use trimmer gives a professional finish for any edging jobs such as shelves and worktops.
