Invented by Kevin Beacham from London, the 'Gap Measure' is a simple, but clever - and very useful measuring tool to help bricklayers achieve repeated cuts to save time and ensure consistent cutting. It is fully adjustable which allows for different sizes of bricks, blocks, tiles etc to be measured. When used together with our True-Cut 'Brick and Block Cutter' you will have your next wall built in no time!
Kevin visited our website, downloaded and read one of our Inventor Packs and then submitted his idea to see if we could help. Our Patent Attorney conducted a comprehensive patent search to establish that the idea was new and could gain patent protection. Meanwhile, our commercial team looked at the idea to consider market need and commercial quality. Working on Kevin's behalf, we secured a licence agreement with a leading British tool manufacturing company. After a period of detailed design, testing and development the Spectra 3017 'Gap Measure' went on sale in August 2007.
The easy way to measure......anything - the Gap Measure is straightforward to use and designed to make measuring jobs that little bit easier. Simply adjust the measure to the size of the gap and then use it as a guide to marking out any material prior to cutting.

The extra touch is that the measure is preset to allow space for the mortar when using as a guide for cutting bricks. After measuring just invert the Gap Measure and the 20mm difference allows the brick to be cut to the correct size allowing for 10mm of mortar at each end to fill the gap.
